Ms. Davina Floyd

Davina Jonette Floyd was an angel with a smile that could warm any heart. She was born June 6, 1993, to the late Deacon John Floyd and Minister Dr. Dolores Hart Floyd.

Davina was well educated. She was a part of the Gifted Education Program from Elementary to Middle School. She graduated from Westover High School with Honors and a 3.7 grade point average. She continued her education earning a diploma and an Associate Degree in culinary arts from Albany Technical College.

Everyone loved Davina’s sweet and loving spirit. She believed in giving and bringing Joy to others. She was a member of New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church. She held many positions in the church including; Secretary of the Divine Women of Purpose, and President of the Young adult Choir. Davina was an anointed singer, musician and artist; often leading praise and worship, and she occasionally played the piano. She also wrote and produced plays that addressed serious messages through comedy.

The love she demonstrated for others was authentic. She loved working with children and took great pride in her craft. She worked with the Oasis Afterschool Program teaching students of different grade levels basic culinary art fundamentals and food presentation. She was also a member of Chosen to Conqueror Inc. where she got the opportunity to experience beauty through the storm. She was a Co-host along with host Colette Jenkins, Chosen to Conquer on Saturdays on 105.5 FM WZBN. Davina was known for her renowned cooking skills with so many requests for her trademarked honey yeast rolls and sweet potato pie. Through the spirit of the lord Davina was led to create special Couples Dinner Event that captured Davina’s amazing skills and loving personality.

Davina’s strong will, persevered through 10 years of struggle, battling with Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO)-a rare disease with many underlining side effects including but not limited to temporary blindness, paralysis, and weight gain.  Even through this, Davina never complained or stopped bringing joy to everyone she came across. Davina finished her assignment and went to sleep in the lord’s bosom on May 9, 2020 at 4:00 pm. She leaves the memory to cherish of her life with her loving mother Minister Dr. Dolores Floyd (Albany, GA), One sister- Tonesha Sibley (Atlanta, GA), One brother- John Emmanuel Floyd Jr. (Lyca) (Quantico, VA), six uncles – Frankie Ray Floyd (Cassandra), Melvin Floyd both of Albany GA, Calvin Hart, Sammie Lee Hart Jr.(Patricia), Richard Allen Hart (Patricia) all of Johnstown PA,  Three aunties – Bobbie Jean Jenkins (Atlanta, Ga), Gloria Jean Tell (Jacksonville, FL) Belinda Hart (Johnstown, PA), three handsome nephews – Quientel Janard Cutliff, Oscar Jaquin Cutlliff, both of Albany GA. John Emmanuel Floyd III. (Quantico VA), Two sets of god parents – Rev. Solomon and Flossie Loud Jr. (Albany, GA), Apostle Doug and Dr. Lisa Currington, ( Glenpool, OK), five god brothers -Travis Robinson (Albany, GA), Saderrick Loud (Atlanta, GA), Keenan Barnette(Pittsburgh PA), Dr. Douglas Currington Jr. (Buies Creek, NC) Mikail Byrd (Glenpool, OK), three god sisters-Janette Farmer (Albany, GA), Dinah Smith (Cleveland, OH), Coretha Currington (Berlin, Germany), her mentor and sister in Christ- Colette (Adrian) Jenkins, and a host of very close cousins, treasured friends and colleagues.
