Gloria Jean Johnson was born on June 20, 1949, in Albany, GA to the late Walter Johnson and Judy Mae Smith. Gloria was called to her heavenly home on April 11, 2024, in Conyers, Georgia.


Gloria was educated in the Dougherty County School System and a graduate from Monroe Comprehensive High School Class of 1968. Gloria obtained her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree from West Technical Institute and her Registered Nursing Degree from Palm Beach Community College.


Gloria accepted Jesus Christ at an early age, and on her spiritual journey she was an active member at United Missionary Baptist Church in Pahokee, Florida, Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Tampa, Florida. She served faithfully as a soprano in the choir and Women’s Ministry. After retirement Gloria returned home and joined First Monumental Faith Ministries. Gloria strongly believed “Luke 1:37- For nothing will be impossible with God”.

During her spiritual journey her health and faith were challenged but she never allowed anything to stop her faith in God. Gloria was a faithful servant and would often sing “I Won’t Let You Fall” by Helen Miller through her pain.


Gloria worked as a Registered Nurse at Everglades Memorial Hospital for 29 years in OB, NICU and Postpartum and Oasis Juvenile Detention Center for 1 year before retirement due to being diagnosed with Lupus. Even after retirement Gloria would fight for patients’ rights and healthcare needs and share her medical knowledge for those in need.


Gloria’s favorite hobbies included sewing, gardening, reading, and spending time with her family. Gloria was known for sitting back with her legs crossed, giving orders, and pointing her fingers while dictating.


Gloria was preceded in death by her: Parents - Walter Johnson and Judy Mae Smith, Husband- Otis Johnson, Brothers- Welton Johnson and Israel Smith Jr., Bonus Mother- Fannie Lou Johnson and Brother-in-Law- Willie Weatherspoon.


Gloria leaves her legacy and memories to his: Daughters- Shanita Davis, LaKesha Johnson, and Vickie Johnson. Grandchildren- Shawana Johnson-Peter, Jazzy Johnson, Shantia Bryant, Keymari Flemister, Naccio Abreu, Khoria Hampton, Simeon Francis and Aubrielle Francis. Uncle - Kenneth Dentson; Sisters- Geraldine Johnson, Emma Jean Weatherspoon, Louventer Dashiell, Emma Jean Johnson, Marva Thomas, Renee Johnson, Sharon Gordon (Eric) and Renee Sisroe; Brothers- Eugene Johnson (Cynthia), Luke Dentson and Timothy Smith, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
