Mrs. Lelia Clinton

March 3, 1930 — June 19, 2019

On March 3, 1930 in Leesburg, GA, Virgil and Lillie Davis were blessed with a daughter named Lelia Bell Clinton. Lelia had twelve other siblings.

Lelia received her education in the Lee County School District.  She gave her life to Christ at a young age. Lelia was married to the late David Clinton. They bore nine children, six girls and three boys. They shared many joyous and memorable moments together, and both truly appreciated life’s simplest pleasures.

Lelia lived 89 wonderful years as a Mother and meticulous homemaker. She believed in firm discipline and hard work. She was a master cook in the kitchen, loved to garden, and had a deep passion and an overwhelming love for FISHING.  She found the sport to be quite enjoyable and relaxing. She could fish from sunrise to sunset, seven days a week.

Lelia was very strong-willed and outspoken. Lelia spent countless hours sitting around sharing stories from her past. She did not hesitate holding back when it came to giving you her opinion.  She had a way of “telling it like it is.”  She always told you the truth even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear. Most of all, she loved her family and instilled in us strong values that will continue to serve as our family’s foundation for generations to come.

On Wednesday, June 19, 2019, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt was called home to be with the Lord.  Her transition came while at home under the care of her children and the Willson Hospice House.   In addition to her parents, Lelia was preceded in death by her husband, David Clinton Sr.; two daughters, Cora White & Emma Clinton; two sons, David Clinton Jr. and Sammie Clinton; eleven siblings; as well as other beloved family members and friends.

She leaves to cherish her memories one sister, Queen Ester Williams; her children: Susie Thomas (Late Johnnie C.), Eddie Clinton, Mary Wiggins, and Virginia King, all of Albany, GA and Bessie (Clifford) Hambrick of Augusta, GA, and son-in-law Zertie B. White of Leesburg Ga; numerous grandchildren: Darrell C., Eric, Gerick, Latanya (Lorenzo), Cynthia (Derrick), Angela, Marlo, Natasha, Tanzania, Zenor, Shawanna, Darrell J.,  Leukethia, Ladesha, Talitha, Jennifer, Trenise, Jessica, Michael, Tichina; and  host of beautiful great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was loved by many, and she will truly be missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.  Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as we will forever celebrate the
