Mrs. Delorise Holiday

July 24, 1948 — June 18, 2016

Delorise was born on July 24, 1948 to Beatrice Barnes Reese and the late Robert Reese, Sr. She was united in Holy Matrimony to George Holiday, Sr. for 43 years and were blessed with two children. Delorise accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined the First Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until her death. She served as Church Secretary, Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, and Youth Advisor. She also served in the deaconess ministry as well as other ministries of the church. Delorise attended the Dougherty County Public Schools and graduated from Monroe High School in 1967. She furthered her education at Albany State College (Now Albany State University) where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics and a Master’s Degree in education. She retired from the Dougherty County School System after 30 years of teaching. After retiring, Delorise owned and operated Delorise Accounting and Tax. With love and a heart for giving, Delorise enjoyed working in her garden raising fruits and vegetables, which she eagerly shared with family and friends. She leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories with her devoted husband, George Holiday, Sr.; son, George Holiday, Jr. of Tallahassee, FL; daughter, Jessica (Rickardo) Smart of Norfolk, VA; mother, Beatrice B. Reese; four brothers, David (Juanita) Reese, Charlie (Barbara) Reese, Jim L. Reese, Ray A. Reese all of Albany, GA; six sisters, Dorothy R. Hunigan, Fannie R. Bell, Jacqueline Reese, Yvonne Reese, Alma (Larry, Sr.) Blakely all of Albany, GA and Mildred R. Faison of Fayetteville, NC; three sisters-in- law, Charlotte (Robert) Blackwell, Alice Archie, and Ella (Arthur) Pettiford; three brothers-in- law, Johnny (Emily) King, Albert Holiday, and Eule Duhart, Sr.; two aunts, Macy Owens and Mazzie Jennings; one uncle, Marvin Barnes, and a host of nieces nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
