Shirley Ann Johnson-Cook was born in Americus, Georgia January 27, 1959, to the parentage of the late Essie W. Taylor-Johnson and Joseph “Joe” Johnson. Shirley transitioned to be with the Lord late Wednesday night, January 10, 2024.
At an early age, Shirley joined Inspirational Church by Faith under the leadership of her uncle, the late Bishop John T. Taylor. Later in life, she joined Restoration Church of Americus.
Shirley received her education from Americus High School, graduating as an Honor Graduate in the class of 1977. Shirley had a passion for cooking, so she helped start a restaurant called “Cook’s Kitchen” after retiring from “The Tog Shop” and working at Cooper Lighting in Americus, Georgia.
She is preceded in death by her son, Courtney Laquan Johnson, mother, Mrs. Essie Johnson, father, Joseph “Joe” Johnson, grandmother, Celia Shelton Taylor, grandfather, Stout Taylor, and several aunts and uncles.
Shirley was blessed with a loving family and she leaves to cherish her son, K’Tory (Bernice)Johnson of Montgomery, Alabama; two grandchildren, Quantavious Johnson of Americus, Georgia, Tristinn Johnson of Dothan, Alabama; one great-grandchild, Tiannie Grace Green; Siblings: two sisters; Annie Pearl Johnson of Americus, Georgia; Veronica (Walter) Naylor of Albany, Georgia; six brothers: Charlie Johnson, James Johnson, Floyd Johnson, Gerald (Deborah) Johnson, Michael (Shirlene) Johnson all of Americus, Georgia; Shannon Johnson of Oberlin, OH. Aunts and Uncles: Elnora Girven, Lillie Mae Cladd, Alex Brown, Sr, all of Americus, Georgia, and many relatives and friends.
