Mrs. Georgia Lee Hillsman-Wright

Mother Georgia Lee Hillsman Wright departed this life Sunday, April 23, 2023 at her
home. She was born July 23, 1934 in Cordele, Georgia to the late Eddie Lee Hillsman
Sr, and Mary Farrior. Georgia graduated from the historic Gillespie-Selden Institute,
Cordele, Ga. and attended vocational college in South Carolina where she received
training in nutrition and food service. She was employed by Phoebe Putney Hospital, in
the food services department for many years before her retirement.
Mother Wright was a prayer warrior who loved the Lord. As a child, she joined the New
Oak Grove Baptist Church, Cordele, Georgia and united with Mt. Calvary Baptist
Church after making Albany her home. She was a dedicated member of the hospitality
ministry and faithfully served as an usher and greeter for many years.
She united in Holy Matrimony with Frank F. Wright of Albany, who preceded her in
death. Their union brought the love of five stepchildren into her life: Shirley Mackey,
(Greenville, NC), Brenda Wright Walthour, (Morrisville, Pa), Carolyn Wright Griffin,
(Jonesboro, Ga.), Kenneth Wright(Lanise), Albany, Ga., and Cheryl Wright Carter,
(Stone Mountain, Ga.).
Her sister, Esther Berryhill, preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory,
a loving brother, Eddie Lee Hillsman Jr. (Ethel Mease), Jacksonville, Fl, her nephews;
Edwin Hillsman, Jacksonville, Fl., Wayne Hillsman (Valvery), Pompano Beach, FL., and
a niece, Roslyn Berryhill Gadson (Floyd), Americus, Ga., a host of cousins, step- grands
and great-grands. Two very dear friends, Mr. Otis Raven and Mrs. Genevieve Griffin
both of Albany, Ga., her Highland Avenue neighbors and her Mt. Calvary church family
whom she loved dearly and her adopted sons and daughters: Lucy Gibson(Curtis),
Minister Vielene Ray, Mary B. Stephens, Dalana Williams, and  Hattie (Jake)
Johnson all of Albany and her very own personal security guard, Tommy Dale Cheeks,
who she lovingly called Big Boy.
