Mrs. Eve Arnold Hunter

Life Reflections of Eve Arnold Hunter

On Sunday, October 12, 2025, Eve Arnold Hunter peacefully completed her earthly journey and joined the heavenly hosts. She was welcomed into eternal rest by her beloved parents, Oliver Arnold and Bernice Arnold, and her cherished siblings: Geneiva Arnold, Oliver Arnold Jr., Geraldine Arnold Diallo, and George Williams Arnold.

Born in Orlando, Florida, Eve was one of twelve children. She accepted Christ at an early age and faithfully served at her home church, Hurst Chapel AME, where her spiritual foundation was laid.

After graduating from Jones High School in 1972, Eve pursued higher education at Albany State College, majoring in Physical Education—a reflection of her passion for sports and kinesiology. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree, followed by a Master of Science in Education from Georgia State University, and later a Specialist Degree from Lincoln Memorial University.

Eve began her teaching career in the Dougherty County School System, serving as a physical education instructor at Northside Elementary and Coachman Park Elementary. In 1986, she relocated to Gwinnett County following her marriage, and continued her vocation at Norcross Elementary School. There, she founded a beloved tumbling club, often personally covering costs for students who couldn’t afford to participate. Her dedication and creativity earned her the honor of Teacher of the Year. Eve was admired by colleagues and students alike for her innovative approach to education and her unwavering belief that “You can’t teach children unless you love children.”

Her leadership journey continued as she transitioned into the role of Assistant Principal, where she served with distinction until her retirement.

Eve met the love of her life, Oliver Richardson Hunter, at an Urban League Dinner in Albany, Georgia. Their connection was instant—Oliver invited Eve to join his table, and from that moment, their love story began. They were married on August 9, 1986, at Bethel AME Church in Albany. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Paige Alexandria Hunter, who shared a deep and special bond with her mother.

Eve and Paige created countless cherished memories during their daily commutes to school—from Norcross Elementary, to Pinckneyville Middle School, and finally Norcross High School. The family celebrated Paige’s accomplishments in music and the arts, and supported her journey through Converse College in Spartanburg, SC, where she graduated in 2011. Following in her mother’s footsteps, Paige began her own career in education and currently teaches at Ivy Preparatory Academy, where she founded the school’s debate team, which recently placed in a prestigious competition hosted by the Atlanta Urban League.

Faith and family were central to Eve’s life. In 1988, the family joined Hopewell Baptist Church, where Eve continued to nurture her spiritual walk. She had a love for shopping, physical activity, and was known for her culinary talents—her family often called to ask for her recipes.

Eve shared a lifelong bond with her godparents, Lisbon and Christine Blaylock, whom she met during her time at Albany State College. Their relationship remained strong until their passing.

Words that best describe Eve include: loving, kind, considerate, and generous. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Oliver Richardson Hunter, and her beloved daughter, Paige Alexandria Hunter. Also left to cherish her memory are her siblings: Mary Dauntain, Alice Arnold Jackson, Piper Arnold (Lexie) Williams, Stephanie Arnold (Kimonie) Mote-Norman, Kevin (Sabrina) Arnold, Anthony Arnold, and Curtis (Della) Arnold, all of Florida. She is also remembered fondly by a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends, including Melba Archie, Michelle Ince, Blenda Mattox, and Pinkey Lucier.
