Ms. Dorene L. Hendrix was born on June 12, 1935 in Metter, Georgia to the late Mr. Clayton and Mollie Hendrix. While living in Waycross,Georgia she was a dedicated member of Mount Zion AME Church where she sang in the Choir and served on various church committees. Upon her arrival in Albany, Georgia she was a faithful member of Bethel AME Church. She attended public schools of Waycross, Georgia where she received her GED and later became a Master Cosmetologist. For twenty-two years, she owned and operated her beauty shop. After closing her beauty shop, she began work as an inspector for the State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers in the Office of the Secretary of State for the State of Georgia
Ms. Dorene L. Hendrix passed from this life to eternal rest after an illness on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her daughters Sandra Faye Armstrong Bowden, Jacqueline Armstrong, and brother Clayton Hendrix.
She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories: a loving son Alex (Yolette) Armstrong, Atlanta Georgia; three granddaughters Meika (Dexter) Bowden McFarland, Apopka, Florida, Tiffany Eddy, Louisville, Kentucky, Monica Thompson, Nashville Tennessee, one grandson Anwar Armstrong, Los Angeles California. Five great-grandchildren A’Lanesha (Jeremy) Bonner, Leesburg, Georgia, Tynshisha McFarland Japan, Makiyah Thompson, Nashville Tennessee, Tyler Williams, Nashville Tennessee and Taylor Williams, Nashville Tennessee. One sister, Sara Thomas, Tifton, Georgia, one brother, James Hendrix, Albany Georgia, a loving sister-in-law Mattie (Johnny) Gipson, Waycross, Georgia, one goddaughter Samantha (Clint) Walker, Waycross Georgia, one godson Girard(Ashley) Wilson, McDonough, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
