Mrs. Dollie Mae Green Mathis

August 22, 1947 — January 7, 2024

Albany, Georgia

Dollie Mae Green Mathis was born on August 22, 1947, to the late Mamie Jackson in Leesburg, Georgia.

She attended Lee County Elementary School and was a 1966 graduate of Monroe High School in Dougherty County.

Dollie joined New Piney Grove Baptist Church at an early age but later moved her membership to Oakie Hill Baptist Church. While there, she was a member of the church choir and was crowned Miss Oakie Hill in 1990. She remained a faithful member until she fell ill and was no longer able to attend.

In 1973 Dollie married Clarence Mathis at Oakie Hill Baptist, Church. Through this union three children were born. They shared love and laughter for 48 years. The couple spent loving days together until Clarence passed in 2021.

Dollie was a dedicated employee. She was employed as a worker by Dr. M. Thames for a total of 40 years.

There is not a day that goes by that you could not find Dollie pressing hair or ironing clothes. She was wonderful at, but she was the best at ironing clothes. People would often bring their items to her so she would put her professional touch to every stich.

Dollie was a sweet, intelligent and hard-working woman. You could always find a smile on her face and love her heart for everybody. She especially loved her children grand and great grandchildren. She did not hesitate to go out of her way to help any and everyone. Her smile and sweet demeanor will forever be in our hearts.

Dollie was proceeded in death by one brother, Joseph Green.

Dollie leaves to celebrate her life's legacy, three children William (Raquel) Mathis, Stephanie (Calvin) Thomas, and Kimberly Mathis; eleven grandchildren, Shenikque, LaDarrian, LaWilliam, Te’Andra, Denelrius, Ke'Ambria, Anthony Jr., Shianne, Shanyia, Sasha, and Malik; eight great grandchildren, three sisters Geraldine Downs, Hilda Clyde, and Linda (Freddie) Smith; one God daughter Felicia Jordan; two mother figures Leola Motten and Barbabra Knox; and special friends Caroline, Josephine, Virginia, Earlene and Joyce; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews in-laws and friends.
