Mr. Charlie Lewis

Mr. Charlie Lee Lewis was born, October 24, 1955 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Ethel Lee Lewis. He departed this life peacefully at home after an extended illness.

Charlie attended Harrison Avenue School, Talbotton Road School and Spencer High School. Charlie loved to work and he acquired many skills which he used to help people.

Charlie later moved to Albany, Georgia where he served as an usher at the Church of God In Christ. He later joined Mount Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Daniel Simmons.

He worked for various companies, including Bob’s Candy Company, he was a Manager at Furniture Mart Rentals and served as a supervisor at Wal-Mart. He worked until his health failed, yet he continued to do maintenance work at home to help his wife whom he loved dearly and he also enjoyed helping his neighbor.

Charlie leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of sixteen years and six months, Venise Russ Lewis, his sons, Charles Lamar Lewis and Devin Dixon, his stepchildren, Kenneth Stevens, Joe Walker, Kentrel Walker and Tiffany Stevens, three sisters, Joann Turner of Columbus, GA, Mary Ann Wright (Amostee) of Lawton OK, and Lucille Stocker (Harvey) of Oklahoma City, OK, one brother, Lucious Lewis (Mary) of Magnolia Arkansas, nephews, Eugene A. Turner, Tony Wright, and Kevin Lewis, a niece, Stephanie Huntley, cousins, Rose Thompson, Brenda Lewis, Melvin Bryant, and Carl Bryant, Five sisters-in-law, Vonnette Mathis, Frances Williams, Mary R. Williams, Thelma Tinson, Betty Johnson, one brother-in-law, Jimmie L. Russ and a host of other relatives and many friends.

The family would like to give a special, heartwarming thank you to Thelma Tinson for all of her encouragement and help during Charlie’s final weeks and on the day of his transitioning, his in-laws and to his longstanding childhood friend, Johnny Jenkins we would also like to say thank you.
