The Life and Legacy of Herbert James Morris Jr.
Herbert James Morris Jr. known affectionately as Herb or Herbie—was born on November 24, 1960, in the heart of Brooklyn, New York, to proud parents Melvina and Herbert Morris Sr. From an early age, Herbie stood out with a bold personality, a sharp wit, and a heart that knew no strangers.
In his twenties, Herbie set out on a new path, moving to Snellville, Georgia, where he planted roots and built a life marked by hard work and simple joys. He became a dedicated truck driver, traveling countless miles with steady hands and a strong sense of purpose. But when he wasn’t on the road, Herbie found solace and happiness in the things he loved most tinkering under the hood of a car, casting a fishing line on a quiet afternoon, or breaking a sweat in the gym.
Herbie lived life with a candid spirit and a fierce love for those around him. He was the kind of man who said what was on his mind but always from a place of truth and care. Beneath his straightforward nature was a deep well of sincerity, loyalty, and love.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Sr, Sister, Barbara, Sister-in-Law, Tammy.
On June 1, 2025, Herbie departed this life, leaving behind a legacy etched in the hearts of many. He is survived by his beloved son, Nigel; his devoted mother, Melvina; and his siblings, Carl (Dorothy), Vincent (Margaret), Anthony, and Bernice along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.
Though he may no longer walk among us, Herbie’s spirit lives on in every story told, every laugh shared in his memory, and every life he touched along the way. He will be remembered for his outspoken charm, his honest heart, and the love he gave so freely. Herbie will be truly missed but never forgotten.
