Gary Benerickt Muhammad, 58, transitioned peacefully at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, Jan. 15. 2019 with his loving family by his side. Memorial services will be held Sat. January 26, 2019, at 11:00 am, Rehoboth Bible Church 1111 5th Ave, Albany, GA. Locally he was known as Smelvin the Clown and Mr. Fantastic. Gary Gary was a featured DJ, entertainer and radio show host. He wrote two columns for the Southwest Georgian newspaper - People Want to Know and the Player of the Week. Gary loved his community and wanted to make it a better place. He had an infectious personality and a great sense of humor. At the time of his passing, Gary was promoting his first CD - The Cookout. Brother Gary was of the Muslim faith and was preceded in death by his father, Williams Lewis Richardson, and sisters Carolyn and Deavala. Left to cherish his memories are his wife Dr. Kimberly Knighton; daughters, Dr. Tayo (Steve) Thomas and Meaghan Camille Garrett; grandchildren, Zyon, Zyaria, Amir and Amari. Mother, Mrs. Wilma Hunt; Siblings, Cedrick (Lisa) Richardson, Vontressia Davis, Sheridan Richardson, Tony (Robyn) Richardson, Jacqueline (Martinez) Frazier, Tim (Jamille) Richardson; Uncles,Wallace (Betty) Richardson, Clinton Lewis, Alvin Lewis, Jerome (Virgia) Stephens, Maurice Stephens and Derrick Lewis; Aunts, Ennis Williams, Francine (Rev. Woodrow, III) Walker, Charlene (Michael) Holland; and a host of loving, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
