Audrey LaShawn Davis

December 8, 1968 — October 9, 2022

Audrey LaShawn Davis, age 53, died unexpectedly on October 9, 2022, in Banjul The Gambia. She was born December 8, 1968, in Albany Georgia, the daughter of Allen Davis Jr and Ruth Lee Davis. She was the youngest of the six children born to this union. She professed a hope in Jesus Christ as a child and was baptized at Blue Spring Missionary Baptist under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Eunice Washington.

She graduated from Dougherty High School, class of 1986. She continued her education at Florida A&M University where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. She pledged the Beta Alpha Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated in the Spring of 1988. After working several years for the Georgia Department of Family and Children's Services, she started graduate school. She received a master’s degree in Public Administration from Valdosta State University. She worked for State Farm Insurance Company for many years before deciding to work for herself as a realtor.

Although she lived in several states over the years, she maintained a connection to her spiritual roots. In Austin TX she joined David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Joseph C. Parker Jr. She served faithfully on the Praise Team as well as the Junior Mission. After moving to Charlotte, North Carolina, she joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church under the spiritual leadership of Rev. Dr. Gregory K. Moss, Sr. where she shared her gift of song through the Music Ministry. Audrey was known affectionately as Shawn and Baby Shawn. Being around her was always fun because of her wonderful sense of humor. She lived life to the fullest and never ran from a challenge. In support of the American Heart Association, she trained for and successfully completed marathons in Jamaica and Hawaii. Audrey was loved by so many, and her big presence will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Audrey was predeceased by her brother, Michael Jerome Davis. She leaves to treasure her memories, 4 sisters: Sandra Ford (Killeen TX), Patricia Davis (Albany Georgia), Jacquelyn Davis-Dozier (Pflugerville TX) and Tanya Moore (Macon Georgia), her uncle Rev. Adolph Lee, and a host
of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
